But while waiting for his next big call-up, he stumbles upon a dangerous new threat right in his own backyard: a villain who is making advanced weapons out of alien technology left over from past battles. This movie is a super fun ride full of action and adventure, showing Peter learning what it really means to be a hero, even without all the fancy gadgets.

What Happens (Spoilers)

Okay, so let's break down what actually goes down in "Spider-Man: Homecoming"! The story kicks off eight years after the big Battle of New York. A guy named Adrian Toomes and his crew were hired to clean up the city, but then a new government-backed group called the Department of Damage Control (DODC), partly run by Tony Stark, took over their job. Toomes was furious, so he convinced his workers to keep some of the alien Chitauri tech they’d already found. They started using it to build and sell super advanced weapons, and Toomes himself created a flying Vulture suit to steal more power cells.

Fast forward to Peter Parker, who recently helped the Avengers in Germany. Tony Stark tells him he's not quite ready to be a full-time Avenger yet, so Peter goes back to his normal high school life. He's at the Midtown School of Science and Technology, but he quits his academic decathlon team so he can spend more time fighting crime as Spider-Man. His best friend, Ned, soon figures out Peter’s secret identity, which is a big deal!

Peter starts to notice strange things happening. He catches Toomes’s associates, Jackson Brice (who's one version of Shocker) and Herman Schultz, selling these high-tech weapons to a local criminal named Aaron Davis. Peter saves Davis, but then Toomes, in his Vulture suit, catches Spider-Man and drops him into a lake. Peter almost drowns but Tony Stark rescues him, warning him to stay away from these dangerous criminals. Meanwhile, Toomes accidentally kills Brice with one of their weapons, and Schultz becomes the new Shocker.

Peter and Ned get their hands on a weapon Brice left behind and study it, removing its power core. When a tracking device on Schultz shows he's heading to Maryland, Peter rejoins the decathlon team so he can go with them to Washington, D.C. for a national tournament. While there, Ned and Peter manage to disable a tracking device Stark put in Peter’s Spider-Man suit, unlocking all its advanced features. Peter tries to stop Toomes from stealing weapons from a DODC truck, but he gets trapped inside, missing his decathlon tournament. He then discovers that the power core he found earlier is actually an unstable Chitauri grenade. He races to the Washington Monument where the grenade goes off, trapping his decathlon teammates, including his crush Liz, in an elevator. Peter breaks in and saves everyone.

Days later, Peter tries to catch Toomes's new buyer, Mac Gargan, on the Staten Island Ferry. Toomes escapes, and a malfunctioning weapon tears the ferry in half. Stark shows up to help Peter save all the passengers, but then, as punishment for Peter's recklessness, he takes away Peter's fancy Spider-Man suit.

Peter goes back to his regular high school life and asks Liz to the homecoming dance. On the night of the dance, Peter is shocked to discover that Toomes is Liz's father! Toomes quickly figures out that Peter is Spider-Man. After threatening Peter, Toomes reveals he's planning to hijack a DODC plane that’s moving weapons from Avengers Tower to the Avengers' new headquarters.

Peter leaves the dance, putting on his old, homemade Spider-Man suit. He gets ambushed by Schultz, but with Ned’s help, he defeats him. Peter then races to Toomes’s compound, where Toomes attacks him, leaving him to die under a pile of rubble. Peter finds the strength to escape and intercepts the plane, steering it to crash on the beach at Coney Island. He and Toomes fight, and Peter even saves Toomes’s life after the damaged Vulture suit explodes. Peter leaves Toomes for the police.

After Toomes is arrested, Liz moves away. Peter turns down Tony Stark's invitation to join the Avengers full-time. Back in his bedroom, Peter puts on the Spider-Man suit that Stark returned to him, right as his Aunt May walks in and discovers his secret!

In a mid-credits scene, Mac Gargan, now in prison, approaches Toomes. He says he heard Toomes knows Spider-Man’s real identity, but Toomes denies it, keeping Peter’s secret safe.

This movie is all about growing up and understanding responsibility. Peter learns that being a hero isn't just about having cool powers or a fancy suit; it's about making tough choices and protecting people, even when it's inconvenient or scary.
