What Happens (Spoilers)

Okay, so Red and Chloe have just returned from their trip to the past and they quickly stash Maddox Hatter's magic Pocketwatch in a secret vault in Wonderland. The next day, they start seeing how much their lives have changed because of their time-travel. Good news: Bridget, the Queen of Hearts, is much kinder now, and Cinderella is safe. But there are big consequences too! Red now has a younger sister named Pink, and Maddox's son Max, who used to be Red's childhood friend, is now a Villain Kid (VK) from the Isle of the Lost. Chloe is also struggling because the younger Cinderella she met in the past is very different from the older Cinderella in the present.

It turns out a young Maddox saw Red and Chloe using the Pocketwatch to come back to the present. This made him obsessed with finding it, leading him down a dark path. Bridget eventually had to banish Maddox and Max to the Isle of the Lost, where Maddox became a full-blown villain. After the Isle's barrier was removed, Maddox returned to Wonderland, still determined to find the Pocketwatch and get revenge on Bridget. He teams up with Chessy, the Cheshire Cat's daughter. When Maddox discovers the Pocketwatch is in Wonderland's vault, he captures Bridget, but she manages to send a magic distress signal to Red. Maddox then uses Bridget's magical cards to take control of Wonderland and starts searching for the vault.

When Red gets Bridget's warning, she and Chloe head back to Wonderland to rescue her. They're joined by Pink, Max, Luis (son of Luisa Madrigal), Robbie (son of Robin Hood), Hazel (Captain Hook's daughter), Felix (Dr. Facilier's son), and Mr. Smee's twin sons, Squeaky and Squirmy. Maddox immediately knows they’ve arrived and forces them to face several magical challenges. This includes fighting corrupted magic flamingoes and playing an enchanted chess game. During the chess game, Red, desperate to win, unthinkingly uses Chloe as bait for a carnivorous flower. This deeply hurts Chloe and puts a big strain on their friendship. Chessy also stirs up trouble, making several members of the group argue. While Red bonds with Luis, her relationships with both Chloe and Pink become quite difficult. Meanwhile, Cinderella finds out the teens have left, so she uses a magic mirror from Bridget to sneak into the Wonderland palace to try and rescue her, but Maddox captures Cinderella too.

Max, wanting to prove he's not like his villain father, leaves the group. He plans to steal Maddox's Oraculum, a device they could use to bargain for Bridget's release. However, Chessy uses the Oraculum to show Max the true original timeline. In that version, Maddox never turned evil and had a loving relationship with Max. Devastated by the truth that Red and Chloe changed his family's happy life, Max vows revenge on Red. He creates a magic bracelet and convinces an angry and hurt Chloe to put it on, which turns her evil. Max and evil Chloe then enter the magic hedge maze around the vault, with Red and Luis chasing after them. Red gets separated from Luis by the hedges. She then finds a "treasure box" that she and Pink had placed in the maze as children. This discovery brings back her new memories of growing up with Pink. When Pink finds Red, they reconcile, and Red truly accepts Pink as her sister.

With Pink's help, Red catches up to Chloe and Max as they finally reach the vault. Max explains that he knows about Red's past actions and plans to use the Pocketwatch to change history again and prevent his father from ever turning evil. But Chloe, still under the bracelet's influence, steals the watch for herself. Red manages to talk Chloe down, and together, they convince Max that trying to change the past *again* would be far too dangerous, especially considering the damage they accidentally caused the first time. Max reluctantly agrees. Red then throws the Pocketwatch into a magic well, where it disappears forever. The group then reaches the castle and, with help from Bridget and Cinderella, they capture Maddox. Red convinces Bridget not to punish Maddox too harshly and apologizes to him, admitting that she was responsible for changing his life.

With Wonderland saved, all the heroes celebrate together. Red, Chloe, Pink, and their new friends look forward to the future. However, Chessy gives a mysterious warning to the audience that the story isn't truly over. And just before the end, Pink finds a strange glowing object, which she secretly hides in her and Red's "treasure box."
