What Happens (Spoilers)

Okay, so the movie kicks off with the Thundermans saving Metroburg from meteors, as you'd expect. But during a follow-up crime, they accidentally drop a giant doughnut on a member of another superhero team, the V-Team. Because of a strict Hero League rule about not harming other superheroes, Super President Kickbutt fires them! They're sent back to Hiddenville, where Hank and Barb are happy to relax, and Billy and Nora look forward to normal high school life. Max and Phoebe, however, are determined to get their superhero status back.

Meanwhile, the supervillains Dark Mayhem, King Crab, and Strongdor are in Metroburg prison. The V-Team, who seem to be their children – Dark Mayhem Jr., She-Crab, and Krondor – visit them. The villain kids decide to make their own plans, leaving their fathers locked up. Max and Phoebe, desperate for their jobs back, propose a "Tree Force" idea to the family, but everyone else is enjoying normal life too much.

At Hiddenville High, Nora uses her laser eyes to make friends, and Billy tries the same. This makes Nora mad, and while zapping Billy, she accidentally zaps off Principal Bradford's ponytail! Back home, Hank and Barb, worried about Chloe, ask Cousin Blobbin for his helicopter to monitor her. Cherry, Phoebe’s BFF, launches Splat Shakes up to the helicopter, which spill and cause it to crash in front of Chloe and her friends.

Max and Phoebe then figure out the V-Team are actually villains. They go to the V-Team's lab alone to try and capture them, but get caught and tied up by Dark Mayhem Jr., She-Crab, and Krondor. The Thunder Twins are then sent to a mysterious place called "The Mayhem Cafe" where they're "tortured" by Dark Mayhem's pre-recorded voice. After escaping one box, they get locked into another with a self-destruct timer.

While this is happening, the villain kids are looking for the Power Plant, which they find in the Thundermans' house. Hank, who knows where it is, refuses to give it up until Dark Mayhem Jr. shows him Max and Phoebe being tortured on his phone. Hank agrees to give them the Power Plant if the twins are released, but Dark Mayhem Jr. lies. The villain kids escape with the Power Plant, leaving Max and Phoebe still trapped.

Just when all hope seems lost, Billy finds a blue piece of the Power Plant that fell off. This blue piece can make superheroes! They feed parts of it to Cherry, Oyster, Gideon, Principal Bradford, and Mrs. Wong, turning them into superheroes. They all work together to break the forcefield trapping Max and Phoebe. Chloe then teleports them all to Max and Phoebe's location. With Chloe's teleportation needing a recharge, Hank punches the self-destruct system just in time, allowing Max and Phoebe to escape.

The Thundermans then confront the villain children on Mount Metroburg. The kids are about to release red pieces of the Power Plant over Metroburg using a drone, with their fathers watching the whole thing. The family defeats the villains, but Dark Mayhem Jr. still manages to release the red pieces. Chloe volunteers to teleport someone onto the drone to stop them. She teleports Max and Phoebe, who successfully remove the red pieces. Phoebe is almost blown off the drone by the wind, but Chloe reaches for her hand, and they all return safely. The villains are detained, and Strongdor and Krondor even start to bond, much to Dark Mayhem Jr.'s annoyance.

Finally, Super President Kickbutt reinstates the T-Force, explaining that the rule they broke doesn't apply to supervillains pretending to be superheroes. The Thundermans agree, but only if their Hiddenville home becomes their new headquarters. Kickbutt agrees, welcoming the T-Force back to the Hero League. When the newly empowered civilians show up, Phoebe freezes them, planning to deal with them later. The movie ends with Dr. Colosso receiving a mysterious message about a special assignment.

What It Means

This movie really highlights the idea that family sticks together, even when things get tough. It also playfully explores how even superheroes need to learn from their mistakes and that true heroism can come from unexpected places, like a group of ordinary people becoming super.
