What Happens (Spoilers)

The story kicks off with siblings Sage and Desi arriving at Camp Rock. Their relationship is a bit rocky because Sage left their band to go to music school. At camp, they meet a bunch of other interesting characters: Cliff the drummer, Rosie the cellist, Callie the aspiring dancer, and Maddie, a popular social influencer with her backup dancers, Daniel and Danielle.

Meanwhile, the famous band Connect 3 (Shane, Nate, and Jason Gray) are getting ready for their tour. Their manager, Lark, tells them their opening act dropped out and insists they find a new one. Shane suggests they look for talent at Camp Rock! So, Connect 3 decides to hold a competition at the camp with three challenges and a big "Final Jam" at the end, all overseen by Lark, with Callie as her assistant. The camp director, Connie Torres, makes a strict rule: no phones allowed to prevent leaks, and anyone caught with one will be out of the competition.

Sage is super motivated to win Final Jam to kickstart her music career. Soon after, a mysterious guy named Fletch Robinson arrives in a police car, sparking all sorts of rumors. Fletch joins Cliff's cabin and they become fast friends. Sage also overhears Rosie singing and encourages her to enter Final Jam. Rosie, from a family of classical musicians, is hesitant but eventually decides to go for it.

The first challenge is performing Connect 3's song "Play My Music." Sage, Desi, Cliff, Rosie, Fletch, and Maddie (and her dancers) all pass. However, Lark tells Sage her performance is too stiff, which makes Sage worry. During a songwriting workshop, Sage is paired with Fletch, who praises her and even performs a song just for her. Desi skips the workshop and finds Callie dancing in the woods. She invites him to join, but he declines, saying he can't dance. Later, Sage tells Callie she has feelings for Fletch but wants to stay focused on the competition. On her way to a campfire, Sage discovers an old lyric book under a floorboard in her cabin that belonged to Mitchie.

The second challenge is dance-focused, led by Callie. Lark is in charge of eliminating contestants. Sage cleverly saves Desi from being eliminated by distracting Lark, causing Lark to bump into Maddie. This leads to Maddie and her backup dancers being eliminated, which Maddie is furious about. Sage, Desi, Fletch, Rosie, and Cliff become the finalists. Desi then asks Callie for dance lessons, and she agrees. Later, Maddie tricks Sage and the others into coming to the arts cabin, where she reveals she's stolen and "bedazzled" their belongings. This turns into a messy paint fight, quickly broken up by Connie.

For the final challenge, Lark announces that the finalists must stay inside a camp bus for 24 hours – anyone who leaves is out. As night falls, Sage and the others bond by sharing their fears, dreams, and insecurities, leading them to spontaneously perform a song together. Unbeknownst to them, Maddie secretly records their performance, planning to leak it online to sabotage the competition. Later that night, Sage and Fletch share a moment. Fletch reveals he's waiting for a court call to decide where he'll live after his mother’s death and shows Sage he still has his phone because he arrived late and it wasn't confiscated. Sage promises to keep his secret.

The next day, Connie finds Sage with Mitchie's lyric book and gives her some encouraging words. Sage then finds Desi dancing, and the two siblings finally make up. Soon after, the finalists are called to Connie's office. The video of their bus performance has been leaked online! Connie and Lark threaten to disqualify everyone if no one confesses who had a phone. Scared, Sage urges Fletch to confess, but he insists he's not responsible. Sage apologizes to Fletch, who forgives her. He then tells her he can still compete because Connie and Lark figured out Maddie was behind the leak.

As Final Jam gets ready, Connie gets a surprise visit from Mitchie, who took a night off tour to watch. Connect 3 returns to judge the performances. Before Sage performs, she gives a heartfelt speech, saying she'd rather her friends be picked as the opening act than herself. As she starts her song, Desi, Fletch, Rosie, and Cliff join her on stage, forming her band.

Backstage, Connect 3 can't decide on a winner. Mitchie offers them advice, leading them to announce that all five finalists will go on tour with them as a group! As everyone celebrates with another performance, Sage sees Mitchie, and they share a wave before Mitchie leaves.
